Another great edition! And thank you for these contest alerts. I didn't realize so many of them were open to you submitting your book for adaptation. I tried to write a screenplay once and it was a complete disaster! This seems like a much more viable option for me. 😄
No problem, Jackie! I've noticed more and more contests adding this book adaptation component, which is a really good sign that more literary agents are looking for works where they can sell film & TV rights, and more producers are asking for book submissions. And don't get too discouraged if you don't win. If the contests aren't too expensive, and especially if they offer feedback, think of it as the cost of doing business. If you're not submitting directly to producers and production companies, it's not a bad strategy to take.
I've definitely had my eyes on going more into podcasts or YouTube readalouds. Since your advice last week, I've even created a new wattpad account to start some rebranding. My goal is to dedicate the account and essentially my time there, to one series that I would develop and morph into these different versions for accessiblity and hopefully marketability.
So far, the effort is on a stand still as I carefully look at how to divide my time but I promise not to rest too long. Thank you for the advice, Paula
That's fantastic! Just remember you're playing the long game and this is part of a larger strategy. I've seen books optioned many years after they've come out, but what they all had in common was that they'd grown into something much bigger by the time they were picked up. It sounds like you're working on developing branded IP and that's excellent!
And I'm with you. I have a whole Tumblr, Instagram, Pinterest strategy I'm trying to hammer out for The Otherworlders, but I have no clue when I'll have time to implement it!

And as Teace said, best of luck to you! 😊
That's amazing. Good luck if you manage to get some entries sent in!
Wonderful, informative, and fun to read!
